Valentine’s Day Getaway
It’s time to get back out!
Things are slowly opening up again and most of us are anxious to get out of the house. We invited friends Alfie and Kristen to head down the Cape with us for one night for Valentine’s Day. This time of year is somewhat quiet down the Cape with the cold weather. But it is so nice to drive down the coast and take a walk on the beach even though its chilly. The sun feels so good and the sound of the waves makes you feel far from home.
Betsy’s Diner
For breakfast we stopped at Betsy’s Diner. The food looked amazing. Could’ve used a little more flavor and spices but portions were good and the ham is freshly made and cut just for breakfast.
Main Street
After our drive and breathing in the fresh air, we took a walk down Main Street. Here there are many shops and restaurants. You can get ice cream, homemade chocolate, jewelry, and handmade gifts.
We got to get in our rooms early at the Inn on the Square. The Inn is within walking distance to Main Street. I would classify the rooms as average. But we were hardly in our rooms.
Between sightseeing and shopping, before we knew it, it was time for drinks and dinner!
Liam Maguire’s Irish Pub & Restaurant
The locals recommended a couple places to try. First, we stopped at Liam Maguires. The beer was nice and cold and the appetizers were typical pub foods but with a twist. Our favorites were the fried pickles that came with a spicy sauce and salt & vinegar wings. The bar looked like it was fun even though we are in the middle of a pandemic and there was a small stage, that obviously during non-corona times, bands and entertainment play. Loved the tavern feel and we were comfortably spaced from others.
Liam Maguire’s Irish Pub & Restaurant Menu
Next we walked over to the Quarterdeck. This place also being very safe with spacing, was cozy and quaint. We were so full from beer & appetizers at the last place we hardly touched our meals. But from what we had it was very good. They had a lot of seafood dishes. Take a peek at their menu! The food is amazing!
Other options
There are great places to stay. I always try to find places where there are things to do near by. In Falmouth Heights, not far from Inn on the Square and Main Street, there are great places to stay with an ocean view. The Seaside Inn is right next to the British Beer Company and the beach is right across the street.
Not even a half mile up the hill is the InnSeasons Resort Surfside.
I have stayed here many times as have my family. Can’t beat walking to the beach right across the street. And the ferry is less than 10 minutes away to the Vineyard! It about a 15 minute walk or less to get to the British Beer Company. And only a short drive away are other restaurants, grocery store, liquor store and even the Christmas Tree Shop!
